All About On Site Training And Assessment (OSAT) Qualifications
OSAT NVQ Diplomas are qualifications which are achieved through a process of on-site practical assessments and professional discussions.
They are not traditional “construction training courses” so there is no specific start and end date, nor do they require any time to be spent in a classroom or away from your workplace.
OSAT qualifications are designed for operatives with at least one year’s on site experience.
Evidence of competence is gathered during on site visits (minimum of 2) where photographic, video and audio evidence will be collected by our Assessor. You will also be required to complete a number of written questions.
All evidence is built into a Portfolio which proves your competence in the relevant trade.
The speed of this process depends on the time taken to gather all the evidence in the smallest number of site visits, noting the following:
- there must be a minimum period of 2 weeks from when you are registered with the Awarding Body before your qualification can be claimed.
- a deposit or full payment must be received before registration can take place.
- on site assessments cannot take place until registration has been completed.
The qualification certificate can take 3 to 14 days to be received from the Awarding Body. MPower will not claim the certificate until full payment has been received.
The NVQ qualifications we provide within these trades do not need updating or replacing.
CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
If a CSCS card is required, you will need to apply for this through a local CSCS test centre. The link below provides further information:

If a CSCS card is required urgently, once you are registered with MPower and a minimum deposit paid, it is possible to apply for a “Red CSCS card” which will allow access to sites to work and can be upgraded to a Blue card once the full NVQ has been achieved.
